The neighbourhood is great and within walking distance of town. The house is comfortable and the meals are fantastic. Your support team is experienced and committed to working with you in developing and achieving your goals during your association with us. It's a partnership with a common purpose and it works!

We are aware of all the community services in Victoria that may be of value to our residents. The referring agent is the halfway house and a Victoria Parole Officer.

House operational philosophy (holistic, person centered, individualized program, group program, cultural focus, specialization, etc)

We offer our residents a partnership focused on moving forward.

We use a holistic approach in helping our residents attain a balance within themselves and the community.

Each person is unique and thereby requires special attention.

Food situation (cook, self-serve, blended, vouchers)

Kitchen Manager provides dinners and purchases all the food for the house.

Men cook their own breakfast and make their own lunches.

Curfew (variable or set)

1st month of residency curfews are 11PM weeknights  12 AM weekends

After 1st month they become 12 AM weeknights and

1 AM weekends

House rules in brief/expectations regarding behaviour/participation in program

 

Our house rules are based on the health and welfare of our staff, residents and CSC Standards & Guidelines.

 

Withdrawal of support and referral back to the Correctional Service of Canada may occur if a resident is non-compliant with his community intervention plan or is noted as undermining the basic rules and spirit of the house.

We provide a unique opportunity for men to re-establish themselves in the community and move to a self supporting living situation.

 

 The Laren Society is a non-profit agency that ensures food, shelter, support systems, monitoring and interventions are in place to assist you with your transition to the community.
